Travel Sterile Processing Tech in South Carolina

A Travel Sterile Processing Technician Team Lead will oversee decontamination, prep, sterilization, and case cart workflow in a level I trauma center teaching hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. This 13-week contract supports surgical demand in a Magnet setting with high-volume instrument processing.

• Supervise sterile processing staff across decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, case carts, and sterile storage
• Assign daily work based on workload, case volume, and departmental priorities
• Monitor tray turnaround, instrument availability, and case cart readiness
• Audit tray assembly, count sheets, peel packs, and labeling accuracy
• Troubleshoot equipment, instrument, and workflow issues
• Support infection prevention, clean and dirty workflow separation, and regulatory compliance
• Coordinate training, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary communication

• High school diploma or GED
• CRCST or CBSPD certification
• Three years of sterile processing experience
• Prior leadership experience
• Knowledge of sterilization principles, microbiology, infection prevention, and instrument sets
• Basic computer proficiency for documentation and recordkeeping

• Advanced certification such as CIS, CER, or CHL
• Preceptor or trainer experience
• Electronic instrument tracking system experience
• Specialty surgical set experience
