Travel Intermediate Care RN in Charlottesville, VA

A Travel Intermediate Care Registered Nurse will care for neurologic step-down patients in a hospital intermediate care unit on a 13-week contract in Charlottesville, Virginia. The 12-bed unit uses Epic, serves adolescents through geriatrics, works at 1:3 ratios, and commonly receives patients from Neuro ICU with neuro trauma, hemorrhage, spine surgery, and head and neck reconstruction needs.

• Monitor neurologic status, telemetry, and dysrhythmias
• Administer ordered IV drips without titration and manage cardiac monitoring
• Provide care for neuro trauma, hemorrhage, stroke, and post-operative spine patients
• Support tracheostomy care, peripheral and PICC line care, and isolation precautions
• Assist with pre- and post-neurosurgical care, seizure management, and drain monitoring
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care with therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams

• Virginia Registered Nurse license, pending at start
• 2 years of intermediate care, step-down, or neuro nursing experience
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Epic charting system experience
• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
• Strong telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation skills

• Arterial line management
• BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula support
• Feeding tube care, surgical drain care, and IV insulin protocols
