Travel Oncology RN in Anchorage, AK

A Travel Medical Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse will care for adults and geriatric patients in an acute hospital on a 13-week contract in Anchorage, Alaska. The unit averages 46 beds, uses Epic charting, and is part of a Magnet hospital with Level II trauma designation. First-time travelers are welcome.

• Administer chemotherapy and related infusions
• Monitor oncology patients for treatment response and complications
• Manage ports, PICC lines and central line care
• Transfuse blood products and track labs
• Provide symptom control, wound care and post-surgical care
• Educate patients and families on treatment precautions
• Support cytotoxic safety and isolation precautions

• Active Alaska Registered Nurse license
• 1 year oncology nursing experience
• BLS and ONS/ONCC chemotherapy certification
• Accredited Registered Nurse program graduation
• Chemotherapy administration, port access and central line management skills

• Experience with acute tumor lysis syndrome and oncology emergencies
• Experience with leukemia, lymphoma and other blood dyscrasias
• Experience with Epic charting, dysrhythmia recognition and radiation safety precautions
• Experience with sepsis management and chest tube care
