Travel Med Surg RN in Charlottesville, VA

A Travel Medical Surgical Registered Nurse will care for neuroscience patients in an acute care unit for a 13-week contract in Charlottesville, Virginia. The 30-bed unit uses Epic and has a 1:4 ratio, with stroke, neurology, neurosurgery, brain injury, and spine surgery patients. Remote telemetry is used on select patients.

• Assess neuroscience and medical-surgical patients on admission and throughout care
• Monitor remote telemetry and report changes in patient status
• Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies per protocol
• Manage lines, drains, feeding tubes, and wound care needs
• Assist with pre- and post-neurosurgery care, stroke care, and spinal cord injury care
• Support EEG, lumbar drain, EVD, and ICP monitoring as needed
• Coordinate discharges, admissions, and teamwork with the care team

• Virginia Registered Nurse license, pending accepted
• BLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• 1 year of medical-surgical or neuroscience Registered Nurse experience
• Epic charting experience
• Strong telemetry, IV, and neuro assessment skills
