Travel Pre-Op RN in Charlottesville, VA

A Travel Pediatric Pre-Op Registered Nurse will provide perioperative care for pediatric surgical patients in a hospital unit in Charlottesville, Virginia on a 13-week contract. The 10-bed pediatric preoperative and postoperative unit includes a 4-bed surgical observation area for overnight or extended recovery, and uses Epic. Care is family-centered for infants, children, and adolescents.

• Prepare pediatric patients and families for surgery
• Monitor recovery after anesthesia and respond to changes in condition
• Assess pain, vital signs, and postoperative status
• Coordinate care with anesthesia, surgery, and multidisciplinary teams
• Support discharge teaching and recovery planning
• Assist with IV therapy and other perioperative needs

• Virginia Registered Nurse license, pending permitted
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS
• 2 years of inpatient pediatric PACU, Phase I PACU, and Phase II recovery experience
• Epic charting system experience
• Trauma Level I experience
• 4-patient assignment experience

• Airway assessment and procedural sedation monitoring
• Central and arterial line care, IV therapy, and blood product administration
• Pain management, medication reconciliation, and discharge instructions
• Lab and EKG interpretation, isolation precautions, and emergency medication use
