Travel NICU RN in Salem, VA

A Travel Neonatal Intensive Care Registered Nurse will care for critically ill newborns in a hospital NICU on a 13-week contract in Salem, Virginia. The 6-bed unit has 5 open bays and 1 isolation room, uses Meditech and Centricity Perinatal, and has RN and RT support for ventilatory care, CPAP and phototherapy.

• Assess critically ill newborns and recognize changes in condition
• Provide IV access support for preterm and term infants
• Stabilize infants needing ventilatory support, CPAP and surfactant therapy
• Assist with newborn resuscitation, intubation and umbilical line placement
• Administer TPN, lipids and NG/OG feedings
• Support breastfeeding education and family communication

• Virginia Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification
• NICU nursing skills in neonatal assessment and IV insertion
• Experience with critically ill newborns and ventilatory support
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program
