Travel Clinical Lab Scientist in Fortuna, CA

A Travel Clinical Lab Scientist will work in a critical access hospital laboratory on a 13-week contract in Fortuna, California. The role covers generalist testing, limited microbiology with gram staining, blood bank work, and independent coverage as the only CLS on duty, with Epic charting.

• Perform generalist clinical laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and blood bank areas
• Support limited microbiology work and gram staining
• Complete type and screen, crossmatch, DAT, and antibody identification duties
• Operate laboratory analyzers and maintain quality control
• Review, report, and verify test results accurately
• Manage specimens, labeling, and proper disposal procedures
• Work independently as the sole CLS on duty

• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license
• ASCP, ASCP MT, or ASCP-MLS certification
• 2 years of hospital clinical laboratory experience
• Blood bank, microbiology, and generalist laboratory skills

• Accessioning and specimen handling
• Pipetting and specimen collection support
• Rapid test kit use
