Travel ED RN in Orange, CA

A Travel Emergency Department Registered Nurse will provide care in a very high-volume hospital emergency department on a 13-week contract in Orange, California. The unit serves adolescents, adults and geriatrics, and handles complex cardiac, STEMI, stroke and behavioral health cases with Epic charting in a Magnet hospital.

• Triage and prioritize patients with acute medical, cardiac, neurologic and behavioral health needs
• Assess and monitor patients with sepsis, stroke, chest pain, injury and respiratory distress
• Start and maintain IV access and administer emergency medications and IV therapies
• Assist with airway support, intubation, ventilation, chest tubes and central lines
• Manage dysrhythmias, obtain 12-lead ECGs and support STEMI and stroke workflows
• Provide care for psychiatric holds, violent behavior and patients requiring safety precautions
• Coordinate care with respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy and other support teams

• Current California Registered Nurse license
• ACLS, BLS, MAB, NIHSS and PALS certifications
• One year of recent emergency department experience in a 200+ patient-per-day setting
• Emergency department experience within the last year
• Prior travel experience

• Epic charting system experience
• Arterial line management, splinting and procedural sedation monitoring
• Triage experience and pediatric emergency department exposure
• Trauma experience, including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputation
